Morgan Lucas' Top Fuel dragster was on rails this weekend in the north wood of Brainerd, MN as he cruised to the win in the NHRA event. In the first round he beat Chris Karamesines with a 3.84, then ran matching 3.83s to beat
Brandon Bernstein and Cory McClenathan to reach his seventh career Top Fuel final and his 20th overall. In the finals he was able to beat
Safety-Kleen's Larry Dixon in a very close battle 3.814 to 3.818. The Funny Car race it was
Tony Pedregon beating Ron Capps when Capps smoked the tires right off the starting line. The win for Tony P came on a weekend of drama as his crew chief and chief mechanic decided to leave the team the week before the race. In the Pro Stock final it was an all
Safety-Kleen affair featuring a rematch from the series' most recent event in Sonoma as
Summit Racing teammates Greg Anderson and Jason Line. But this time it was the old veteran Anderson reversing the tables and edging Line by just .002-second, 6.64 to 6.65. The victory was Anderson's 58th of his career. No rest for the NHRA stars as the head for Reading, PA this coming weekend.
