Lagano Takes Nationwide Race in Chi-Town

Joey Logano outran his teammate Kyle Busch in the Nationwide Series race at Chicagoland Speedway and went on to win for the third time this year. The race unfolded quickly and looked like "the Joe Gibbs Racing benefit race", as the two Toyota cars dominated all evening. The only challenge came from Carl Edwards and Brian Vickers - but both lacked the horsepower to catch the Toyotas. There was only two cautions all race with the last coming with just a handful of laps remaining. All the leaders pitted - but Lagano decided to stay out and hope the old tires would be strong enough to hold off the rest of the field. On the restart Logano was able to stay ahead of a hard charging Busch who restarted in third. As the cars came to the checkered flag it was Lagano who was able to use the Toyota horsepower to stay ahead of Busch with Brian Vickers finishing third. Safety-Kleen's Jason Leffler, who stayed out with Logano on the final caution, hung on with his old tires to take fourth. Safety-Kleen's Kevin Harvick was near the front all night but managed to only take fifth followed by Edwards and Greg Biffle. Kyle Busch is now 192 points ahead of Edwards in the standings as the teams head down Highway 55 to St Louis for next weekends event.
