Max Angelelli and co-driver Brian Frisselle took the win on Saturday in the Grand Am Rolex Sports Car Race at the famous Daytona International Speedway. The win was the first for the team this year and didn't come easy as the heat and the racing was intense. The Angelelli Frisselle team led 33 of the 70 laps of the race, which was run on a hot Saturday afternoon prior to the NASCAR race in Daytona. At the end, they held off a hard fight from Alex Gurney to take the win and move to within one point of series leader Scott Pruett. Pruett had a great start from the pole, but suffered from a cut tire in the middle of the race and never was able to come back into contention. Ryan Dalziel and Bill Lester finished in third while John Pew and Michael Valentine came back from a morning crash in qualifying to finish in fourth. The Grand Am teams now get a weekend off to recover from the heat before another hot contest is scheduled for the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama in two weeks.
